Thomas Cruise Mapother IV (pronounced /ˈtɒməs ˈkruːz ˈmeɪpɒθər/; born July 3, 1962), better known by his screen name of Tom Cruise, is an American actor and film producer. Forbes magazine ranked him as the world’s most powerful celebrity in 2006.[1] He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and won three Golden Globe Awards. His first leading role was the 1983 film Risky Business,[2] which has been described as “A Generation X classic, and a career-maker” for the actor.[3] After playing the role of a heroic naval pilot in the popular and financially successful 1986 film Top Gun, Cruise continued in this vein, playing a secret agent in a series of Mission: Impossible action films in the 1990s and 2000s. In addition to these heroic roles, he played other parts such as the misogynistic male guru in Magnolia (1999) and a cool and calculating sociopathic hitman in the Michael Mann crime-thriller film Collateral (2004).

In 2005, the Hollywood journalist, Edward Jay Epstein argued that Cruise is one of the few producers (the others being George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer) who are able to guarantee the success of a billion-dollar movie franchise.[4] Since 2005, Cruise and Paula Wagner have been in charge of the United Artists film studio,[5] with Cruise as producer and star and Wagner as the chief executive. Cruise is also known for his controversial support of and adherence to the Church of Scientology.

Swine Flu symptoms

November 17, 2009

Swine flu, also known as 2009 H1N1 type A influenza, is a human disease. People get the disease from other people, not from pigs.

The disease originally was nicknamed swine flu because the virus that causes the disease came to humans from pigs. The virus contains genes from swine, bird, and human flu viruses. Scientists are still arguing about what the virus should be called, but most people know it as the H1N1 swine flu virus.

The swine flu viruses that spread among pigs aren’t the same as human flu viruses. Swine flu doesn’t often infect people, and the rare human cases that have occurred in the past have mainly affected people who had direct contact with pigs. But the current “swine flu” outbreak is different. It’s caused by a new swine flu virus that has changed in ways that allow it to spread from person to person — and it’s happening among people who haven’t had any contact with pigs.

That makes it a human flu virus. To distinguish it from flu viruses that infect mainly pigs and from the seasonal influenza A H1N1 viruses that have been in circulation for many years, the CDC calls the virus “2009 H1N1 virus.” Other names include “novel H1N1” or nH1N1, “quadruple assortant H1N1,” and “2009 pandemic H1N1.”

Many people have at least partial immunity to seasonal H1N1 viruses because they’ve been infected with or vaccinated against this flu bug. These viruses “drift” genetically, which is why the flu vaccine has to be tweaked from time to time.

True Friend Lyrics

November 4, 2009

friend-16

We sign our cards and letters BFF
You’ve got a million ways to make me laugh
You’re lookin’ out for me, you’ve got my back
So good to have you around

You know the secrets I could never tell
And when I’m quiet you break through my shell
Don’t feel the need to do a rebel yell
‘Cause you keep my feet on the ground

You’re a true friend
You’re here till the end
You pull me aside when something ain’t right
Talk with me now and into the night
‘Til it’s alright again
You’re a true friend

You don’t get angry when I change the plans
Somehow you’re never out of second chances
Won’t say “I told you” when I’m wrong again
I’m so lucky that I’ve found

A true friend
You’re here till the end
You pull me aside when something ain’t right
Talk with me now and into the night
‘Til it’s alright again

True friends will go to the ends of the earth
Till they find the things you need
Friends hang on through the ups and the downs
Cause they’ve got someone to believe in

A true friend
You’re here till the end
You pull me aside when something ain’t right
Talk with me now and into the night
No need to pretend
You’re a true friend

You’re a true friend
You’re here till the end
You pull me aside when something ain’t right
Talk with me now and into the night
‘Til it’s alright again
You’re a true friend

You’re a true friend
You’re a true friend
